Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) was launched bythe Hon'ble Prime Minister on 11 Oct 2014 with thevision to translate the comprehensive and
organic visionof Mahatma Gandhi, of an ideal Indian village into areality, keeping in view of the present context.
TheSAGY envisages triggering processes that lead to holisticdevelopment of the identified Gram Panchayats and thusbringing
substantial improvement in the quality andstandard of life among all sections of population. The ‘Adarsh Grams' are to
become models or schools of localdevelopment and governance, inspiring neighboringGram Panchayats to learn and practice
the models ofdevelopment. Under SAGY, hon'ble MPs from LokSabha has selected villages in their own constituencieswhile
Hon'bleRajyaSabha MPs have selected villagesfrom the state they represent. It is targeted to develop onevillage from each
parliament constituency as a modelvillage by 2016 and two more by 2019. The DistrictCollector/Deputy Commissioner will be
the NodalOfficer for implementing the SAGY. The DistrictCollector/Deputy Commissioner will be appointed aCharge Officer of
sufficient seniority for coordinate &implementation of SAGY. The Hon'ble Member of Parliament, LokSabha,
HPC-1,Karimgnaj was adopted Matijuri-Paikan G.P. inHailakandi District as SaansadAdarsh Gram.
