Swarnajayanti Gramen Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY), one of the flagship programs of the Rural Development Ministry is being restructured as the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) has been in progress in a mission mode across the country.
Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission Society (ASRLMS) is designated as State Rural Livelihoods Mission by the State Cabinet for rolling out National Rural Livelihoods Mission in the state. In Assam, in the first phase, 8 districts and 44 blocks have been selected as intensive district and blocks respectively. Hailakandi has been selected as intensive district with two intensive blocks namely Lala and Algapur.
The Objective of the Mission is “to reduce poverty by enabling the poor households to access gainful self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities resulting in appreciable improvement in their livelihoods on a sustainable basis, through building strong and sustainable grassroots institutions of the poor.”
